My journey in cooking began at a very young age. I was so captivated watching my Mother and my two Grandmothers preparing family dishes and baking, and couldn’t wait to have an opportunity to try cooking and baking. I graduated from college in Education and then worked a number of years in Human Resources. However, I wanted to get some answers to my “Why” certain cooking methods are used to prepare all the dishes and baked goods that I grew up with. So, I enrolled and graduated from the Philadelphia Restaurant School in their culinary of arts program and later attended the Culinary Institute Greystone to learn the basics of wedding cake design and decorating. I continued my cooking journey in Umbria, Italy on an agricultural farm.
By doing all these things, it helped me to record the wonderful dishes and baked goods that I grew up with and explore other dishes (sweet and savory) to add to my recipe repertoire. Ultimately, I left my Human Resources position to start a new and exciting business as a personal chef. Fortunately, I had the help of the United States Personal Chef Association to guide me in the start up of my new business, Glorious Gourmet PCS. As I continued my personal chef service, I continued my cooking education by completing a course in nutrition, attending USPCA seminars, Chef Trade Shows, and offering cooking classes at Community Colleges in Pennsylvania. I also volunteered as a culinary instructor in the No Kid Hungry Cooking Matters Programs. Currently, I am a kitchen assist volunteer for City Seed's Sanctuary Kitchen in New Haven, CT.
As my cooking journey continues, I want to share what I have learned and all the wonderful dishes I remember and other personal favorites. However, I should tell you that the journey in cooking never ends and that is why it captivates me so much! By sharing my food and cooking knowledge, I hope to be a resource to you to enhance your cooking skills, experience new food ideas, cook healthy and delicious foods, and, of course, HAVE FUN DOING IT!
